# Free 11+ English Questions With Answers

Pip gives your child free 11+ English questions online, marked the moment they answer, with a clear explanation of why the answer is right. It suits children in Years 3 to 6 preparing for grammar school and independent school entrance tests.

## What the English questions cover

- **Comprehension:** short passages with questions on detail, meaning and inference.
- **Spelling:** spotting the misspelt word among tricky look-alikes, often [homophones](https://pip11plus.com/homophones) such as stationary and stationery.
- **Grammar:** tense, agreement and choosing the correct sentence.
- **Punctuation:** commas, apostrophes and speech marks in the right place.
- **Vocabulary:** word meanings, synonyms and antonyms.
- **Cloze:** filling a gap with the word that fits best.
- **Word types:** nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

## How marking works

Every answer is marked straight away, with an explanation your child can read before moving on. Each skill has its own Pip Score from 0 to 100. Right answers move it up, wrong answers move it down, and the score decides how hard the next question is, so a strong reader is not held back by weak punctuation, or the other way round. A skill counts as mastered at 90, and skills come back for review before they fade. Read more about [how the Pip Score works](https://pip11plus.com/pip-score).
