Keep the boat and Tomas consistent with the opening, reveal a plausible reason for his hesitation, and let an action or precise detail convey the mood. Check sentence endings and tense. Written maths Task 2 of 4 ### A school buys 14 packs of pencils, with 12 pencils in each pack. It gives 5 pencils to each of 30 pupils. How many pencils remain? Show both stages. Write your response on paper before opening the notes. **Show answer or discussion notes** 14 × 12 = 168 pencils. The pupils receive 30 × 5 = 150. There are 18 pencils left. The final answer needs the unit. Editing Task 3 of 4 ### Rewrite this sentence with correct punctuation: “although the rain had stopped maya who had forgotten her coat stayed inside” Write your response on paper before opening the notes. **Show answer or discussion notes** One correct version is: “Although the rain had stopped, Maya, who had forgotten her coat, stayed inside.” Check the opening capital, Maya’s name, the comma after the opening clause, the paired commas and the full stop. Written maths Task 4 of 4 ### A rectangular garden measures 12 m by 8 m. A path 1 m wide runs inside all four edges. What area is left for planting? Explain why both dimensions change by 2 m. Write your response on paper before opening the notes. **Show answer or discussion notes** The path takes 1 m from each end of each dimension, leaving 10 m by 6 m. Planting area = 60 m².
