**By the Pip team** Updated June 2026

The Tiffin Girls' School is the dominant girls' grammar in south-west London, in Kingston upon Thames and rated Outstanding. It is highly selective, and since 2014 it has prioritised girls living in its Designated Area, so it is no longer a pure super-selective. Here is how it admits, what its results look like, and how to prepare.

**TL;DR**

- Tiffin Girls' is a girls' grammar in Kingston upon Thames with **180 places** at 11+.
- Stage one is two **multiple-choice papers** in English and maths. Stage two is written: maths, plus English comprehension and a **creative writing task**.
- The combined mark is weighted **60% English** and **40% maths**, so writing matters.
- Since **2014**, girls in the **Designated Area** get places before girls outside it, so it is no longer a pure super-selective.
- 2025 results: **72.6%** of A-levels at A\* or A and **95.9%** of GCSEs at grades 9 to 7.

## The Tiffin Girls' School results in 2025

Tiffin Girls' is one of the strongest girls' grammar schools in the country, rated Outstanding, with excellent results and pupils heading to the most competitive universities.

| 2025 results | Figure |
| --- | --- |
| A-level A\* or A | 72.6% |
| GCSE grades 9 to 7 | 95.9% |

Figures are taken from the school's own published 2025 results. Always confirm the latest on the school website, and see how it sits against other top performers in our [UK grammar school league table](https://pip11plus.com/grammar-school-league-table-rankings).

**Free Tiffin style practice papers.** We have written a full Stage One style paper set to the published format, a maths paper and an English paper with an OMR style answer sheet and mark schemes. ## How to get into Tiffin Girls': the 11+ tests

Entry is through the school's own two-stage test:

1. **Stage one** is two multiple-choice papers in English and maths, used to decide who is invited to stage two.
2. **Stage two,** for girls who qualify, is written and includes a maths paper and an English paper of open-answer comprehension and a creative writing task. The combined mark is weighted 60 percent English and 40 percent maths, so the writing matters.

Register directly with the school in the summer before Year 6, sit the tests in the autumn, then name Tiffin Girls' on your local authority application form. Confirm the exact dates and format on the school's admissions page each year.

## Places and the Designated Area

This is the part families most often get wrong. Tiffin Girls' has 180 places and ranks qualifying girls by their combined mark, but **girls living in its Designated Area are allocated places before any girls living outside it**. So for most families, qualifying on score is only half the job: you also need to live in the Designated Area to be in the strongest position.

It means Tiffin Girls' is no longer a pure super-selective, despite its reputation. See our [Tiffin Girls' catchment guide](https://pip11plus.com/grammar-schools/the-tiffin-girls-school-catchment-area) and the [catchment checker](https://pip11plus.com/grammar-school-catchment-checker) to check where you stand.

## Is Tiffin Girls' super-selective?

Not any more. It was historically treated as a super-selective, but since 2014 the Designated Area takes priority, so both a high score and your address matter. A girl outside the area needs an exceptional mark, while a girl inside it still needs to qualify but is in a much stronger position. See [super-selective vs standard-selective grammars](https://pip11plus.com/best-grammar-schools-uk) for how this works.

## How to prepare for the Tiffin Girls' 11+

Because places are decided by score, the gap between an offer and a near miss is small, so steady preparation matters. Build strong English and maths, and at the schools that set one a confident piece of writing, alongside reasoning where it is tested, then add timed practice in the year before the test. Little and often beats last-minute cramming.

## Frequently asked questions

**How hard is it to get into Tiffin Girls'?**

Very competitive. There are 180 places and far more applicants. Girls are ranked by their combined mark, but those in the Designated Area are allocated places before girls outside it, so a high score and a local address both help.

**What test does Tiffin Girls' use?**

Its own two-stage test. Stage one screens for the selective standard, and stage two ranks qualifying girls by combined mark, assessing English, maths and reasoning.

**Is Tiffin Girls' super-selective?**

No longer. Since 2014 it has prioritised girls living in its Designated Area, so both score and address matter. It is a common misconception that it is still a pure super-selective.

**What were Tiffin Girls' 2025 results?**

Around 73 percent of A-levels at A\* or A and roughly 96 percent of GCSEs at grades 9 to 7. It is rated Outstanding.

**Where is the Tiffin Girls' School?**

In Kingston upon Thames, in south-west London. It is a girls' grammar school for ages 11 to 18.
