How to play Factor Blaster
- Check the target at the top of the screen, such as MULTIPLES OF 6.
- Tap a meteor whose number fits the target before it lands.
- Wrong taps cost a shield, and so does a right meteor that hits the ground.
- Beat the boss at the end of each round, then the next round gets harder.
What your child learns
It works as a factors game for KS2 and a multiples game for KS2 in one. These are the KS2 skills it practises.
- Multiples of a number
- Factors of a number
- Common multiples and common factors
- Prime numbers to 97 and square numbers
Real examples from the game:
Levels and difficulty
Each round is two meteor waves and a boss with a shield of number orbs. Round 1 uses multiples of 3 to 6 and factors of 12 to 36.
Later rounds add squares, primes, even multiples, common multiples and common factors, with numbers up to 120. Meteors fall faster, more appear at once, and the boss gets tougher every round.
Pip moves your child up when they are ready and eases off when they struggle. Each run is short and focused, so it fits before school or homework.
Every level, in the free Pip app
Factor Blaster is part of Pip Pro in the app, with every level and saved progress.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Before a run, list the factors of 24 and 36 together in pairs (1 and 36, 2 and 18) so the boss rounds feel familiar.
- Ask your child to say why a meteor fits as they tap it: "24 is a multiple of 6 because 6 × 4 is 24".
- In class, put a round on the whiteboard and let the room shout "fits" or "skip" before the tap.
