How to play Rocket Run

  1. Solve the sum up top, such as 56 ÷ 7.
  2. Drag to steer into the asteroid with the answer.
  3. Hit the wrong rock and your shield cracks.
  4. Keep going until the 45 seconds run out or the shields are gone.

What your child learns

It is a division facts game and a times tables and division game in one run. These are the KS2 skills it practises.

  • Division facts
  • Times tables from 2 to 12
  • Inverse operations

Real examples from the game:

7 × 856
56 ÷ 78
12 × 9108
81 ÷ 99

Levels and difficulty

A run lasts 45 seconds with three shields. About a third of the questions are division facts, the inverse of a times table fact, and the wrong asteroids are close traps such as one table up or down.

Pip moves your child up when they are ready and eases off when they struggle. Each run is short and focused, so it fits before school or homework.

Tips for parents and teachers

  • Show that every division fact hides a times table fact: 56 ÷ 7 = 8 because 7 × 8 = 56.
  • Practise one table at a time with its division facts before a mixed run.
  • For a classroom warm-up, read each question aloud and let the class answer before the rocket moves.
