The short answer

For 2027 entry, The Latymer School uses three tests: 30 minutes of maths, 30 minutes of verbal reasoning and 60 minutes of English. Applicants must live in one of the school’s listed Inner Area postcodes to be admitted.

The 2027 test format

Maths and verbal reasoning use separate answer sheets. The English paper is written. The school gives time alerts and provides rough paper.

The school points parents to GL sample material for maths and verbal reasoning. It also publishes English specimens and a writing mark scheme.

The postcode rule matters

Only children living in a listed Inner Area postcode can be admitted. There is no preference between postcodes on that list. Read the full official list before applying.

Two forms and early dates

The school test application closed on 2 June 2026 for 2027 entry. Families must also name Latymer on the council school form.

How to prepare
