The badge, awarded for the 9 to 12 age group, means independent experts have looked closely at Pip and judged it a high-quality, age-appropriate app for children. What is Teacher Approved?
Teacher Approved is Google Play's programme for helping parents find genuinely good apps for children. Rather than relying on star ratings alone, Google works with teachers and children's education and media specialists who review apps against a framework built with expert consultation. They look at things like:
- Design quality: is it easy for children in the age group to use and understand?
- Content: is the language, imagery and theme age-appropriate?
- Educational value: does it support healthy development, including creativity, learning and positive messages?
- Engagement: does it actually delight and hold a child's attention?
- Ads and purchases: do they affect the child's experience?
Apps that pass earn the Teacher Approved badge, become eligible for the Kids tab on Google Play, and get a section on their store listing showing what reviewers liked. It is one of the few genuinely independent quality marks in the app world, which is exactly why it means a lot to us.
