Enter your child's Paper 1 and Paper 2 marks to see the real 2026 scaled score for the Year 6 SPaG SATs, using the Standards and Testing Agency's official published conversion table. For the rest of SATs week, see our guide to preparing for Year 6 SATs.
100 is the expected standard, on a scale from 80 to 120.
- Add the Paper 1 mark (out of 50) and Paper 2 mark (out of 20) for a raw mark out of 70.
- In 2026, a raw mark of 34 reaches the expected standard of 100, and 55 reaches the higher standard of 110.
- The calculator uses the official STA table published on 16 July 2026; the table changes every year.

This uses the real, official 2026 table
Unlike an 11+ score (where GL Assessment and Cambridge keep their conversion tables confidential), the Standards and Testing Agency publishes the real KS2 raw-to-scaled-score table every year, once that year's results are in. This calculator uses the actual 2026 table, published on GOV.UK on 16 July 2026, not an estimate.
The one thing to know: this is the 2026 table specifically. The Standards and Testing Agency builds a fresh table each year from how that year's national cohort performed, so a raw mark of 34 in 2026 will not necessarily convert to the same scaled score in 2027.
We will update this calculator once the next table is published.
How the score is calculated
Two inputs: the Paper 1 mark out of 50 (grammar and punctuation) and the Paper 2 mark out of 20 (spelling), combined into a raw mark out of 70. That combined raw mark is looked up directly in the real 2026 conversion table below, the same table schools use to report real results.
The real 2026 conversion table
Every raw mark from 3 to 70 and its official scaled score. A raw mark of 0 to 2 gets no scaled score at all.
| Raw mark (out of 70) | Scaled score | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 2 | No scaled score | Below the minimum the test can report |
| 3 to 33 | 80 to 99 | Below the expected standard |
| 34 to 36 | 100 | The expected standard |
| 37 to 54 | 101 to 109 | Above the expected standard |
| 55 | 110 | The higher standard |
| 56 to 65 | 111 to 119 | Well above the higher standard |
| 66 to 70 | 120 | The maximum scaled score |
Nationally, 74% of pupils met the expected standard in grammar, punctuation and spelling in 2026, up from 73% in 2025 (source below).
SPaG score calculator FAQ
Is this the official SPaG scaled score?+
Yes, for 2026. This calculator uses the real raw-to-scaled-score conversion table the Standards and Testing Agency published on 16 July 2026, not an estimate.
It will need updating once the 2027 table is published (usually mid-July), since a new table is calculated fresh from that year's actual cohort.
What is the pass mark or expected standard for SPaG?+
There is no fixed pass mark set in advance. For 2026, a raw mark of 34 to 36 out of 70 earned the expected standard (scaled score 100), and 55 out of 70 earned the higher standard (scaled score 110).
Both figures come from the real published 2026 conversion table.
How is a SPaG raw score converted to a scaled score?+
The Standards and Testing Agency builds a fresh conversion table every year from how that year's actual national cohort performed, then publishes it in July alongside results. This calculator looks up your child's combined raw mark in that real 2026 table directly.
