What your child learns

It is one of the few KS2 SPaG games that covers punctuation, tense and apostrophes together, so it doubles as one of our punctuation games KS2 children like most. These are the KS2 skills it practises.

  • Capital letters and end punctuation
  • Apostrophes and speech marks
  • Verb tenses and irregular past forms
  • Commas in lists and after fronted adverbials
  • Sentence boundaries

Real examples from the game:

we planted sunflowers by the fence. We (capital letter)
Our teacher teached us a new song.taught
The childrens toys were everywherechildren’s, plus a full stop
We buyed apples pears and plums yesterday.bought, plus a comma

Levels and difficulty

Eleven wards each focus on one skill, from the Front Desk (capitals and full stops) to the Apostrophe, Speech, Stitch and Never wards. The Chief Surgeon boss brings whole paragraphs with several problems.

Each fix uses a tool: the scalpel cuts, the swap tray swaps, the forceps move and the injector adds punctuation.

Pip moves your child up when they are ready and eases off when they struggle. Each run is short and focused, so it fits before school or homework.
